INSPIRATION

TRAVEL

Traveling has inspired me. When I traveled to Vancouver in 2014 or to the family cottage in Muskoka during the summers, I started to paint and photograph mountains, lakes, and wildlife since I enjoyed the scenery so much, which helps create my theme of nature.

PICASSO AND VAN GOGH
Many of my artworks, especially my paintings, involve unrealistic features. Unnatural and unrealistic attributes are very common in Pablo Picasso and Vincent van Gogh's artwork as well. Picasso's artwork during the Cubism Art Movement and Van Gogh's work during the Post-Impressionism movement inspired me to create my artwork, including my three main artworks.

GREG BACKWELL

A family member and artist inspired me to create my artwork. My grandfather, Greg Backwell, is known by many people as a photographer and painter of nature. A majority of his artworks include living creatures or a view of a natural scene. Using paint, incluing water colour and acrylic, he creates paintings that look almost life-like. My grandfather keeps inspiring me and supporting me to paint and photograph as often and as much as I can.
